Provides hot meals, basic washroom, information on finding affordable housing, access to basic healthcare, mental health services, specialized programs.

Provides employment and career counselling for youth aged 15 to 24, who are out of work and out of school.

The mandate of the Council is to work towards the equality of women in the Northwest Territories through advice to the government of the NWT, research, public education, advocacy on behalf of women and assistance to women's groups.

Providing community based residential services for individuals aged 16 and over who are in need of support, counselling and protection as a result of abuse, psychiatric difficulties, family violence or breakdown, discrimination and alienation. The agency develops, manages and facilitates access to decent affordable housing for individuals living in poverty and in need of supports to live independently in the community.

Other services include providing intensive service coordination and home support services to persons with complex mental health problems; the delivery of supportive employment programs, various community economic development initiatives; and a long term housing project.

Offers support and information to female sex workers so that they may live and work safely and with dignity.

Supports individuals involved in the sex trade by contributing to their health, safety and well-being. Through outreach services, we offer a chance to talk and responses to requests for practical help; information and referrals to other services are available. Our Resource Centre offers women, men, and youth who work on the streets coffee and a place to talk about the challenges they face, and we run recreational activities two nights a week. We can also arrange emergency accomodations for those requiring urgent assistance in leaving the street.

Empowers at risk street youth by offering youth the opportunity to make positive changes in their lives. Street Connection provides referrals, guidance, support and understanding in a safe, accessible environment. Open Wednesday and Sunday evenings from 5-10pm (serve dinners) and Friday and Saturday evenings from 8:00pm to midnight (serve light meals). Drop-in centre for 16-24 year olds, alcohol and drug addiction counselling, info on safe sex and safe needle use, kitchen, laundry and shower facilities. Someone who listens. Someone who cares. We continue to care when everyone else presumably gives up.

Integrated continuum of services to improve the quality of life of women in need and bring creative solutions to their problems.

Services include:

· emergency shelter where women can access counseling and support in meeting their short-term needs;

· drop-in centre where women can receive immediate support, medical attention, meals and hygiene supplies;

· hostel redirect program to help women living at Street Haven hostel find permanent housing;

· case managers who work one-on-one with women with alcohol and drug dependency;

· Joubert House, a home for women with histories of mental illness and homelessness;

· Grant House, a residential treatment program for women with substance-abuse problems; and

· safe, affordable, permanent housing for single women in need.

Assists those living on the street in Ottawa with accessing health care and basic health services.

Programs and services delivered to homeless men and women in downtown

Toronto include nursing clinics in shelters, mental health case management and support, HIV/AIDS prevention and harm reduction street

outreach, Hepatitis C support, personal identification replacement, mailing address and mail service, sleeping bag exchange. Advocacy is a major component of the agency's mandate.
